Very little is written or known about Bohor and even Xenakis himself claims to have forgotten how the piece was created. Xenakis' publisher kindly made available to us for the first time the original sketches for Bohor, from which we attempted to uncover the compositional ideas. Even with the help of the sketches, understanding what they meant was challenging and what follows should be considered, before all, a tribute to the author as well as an attempt to engage the imagination of the audience, rather than the final word on the analysis of this influential work.

Bohor is an eight track piece in which four distinct tracks are mirrored through pairs of speakers. Xenakis is known to have said that listening to Bohor should be similar to an experience of listening to a bell from its inside, which explains the careful choices in the spatialisation of the speakers. Xenakis apparently expereimented with many different spatialisations, the final version of which is shown on the figure and will be used in the upcoming concert.
