Music and Dance from Romanticism to Mark Morris
An exploration of the music-dance relationship from the late eighteenth century to the present. Specific topics include Romanticism, Tchaikovsky, the Ballets Russes, Copland/Graham, Stravinsky/Balanchine, African American traditions and jazz, Cage/Cunningham, and Mark Morris.
The prerequisites for this course are C1123 or F1123 Masterpieces of Western Music or BC 1001x or 1002y Introduction to Music, or equivalent, and the abiity to read musical notation.Â
