An exploration of the applicability of recent work in cultural theory and analysis to the understanding of popular music in the 1980s and 1990s.

The prerequisite for this course is C1123 or F1123 Masterpieces of Western Music or BC 1001x or 1002y Introduction to Music, or equivalent, and the instructor's permission.
