MetaMix 1.1.2 created by Jason Freeman http://www.jasonfreeman.net/MetaMix/ SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: ------------------- MACINTOSH: Mac OS X 10.1 or higher WINDOWS: Windows 2000 or XP. Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1 or higher Quicktime 7 or higher KNOWN ISSUES: ------------ * The reliability of real-time parameter changes (i.e. changing options while MetaMix is playing) has been greatly improved since b1. However, under rare circumstances, changing parameters may cause playback to gradually come to a halt. If this happens to you, and you can reproduce the bug, PLEASE e-mail me and let me know the steps you took to cause the problem. * On occasion, a new chunk briefly flashes as it enters on the left side of the mix counter. * Import of audio direct from CD is not supported on Windows. This is a limitation of the underlying Quicktime architecture and cannot be fixed. To import audio from a CD in Windows, you must first use a separate program (such as MusicMatch or WinAmp) to "rip" the audio to an MP3 or WAV file. * Import operations cannot be cancelled and do not show their progress. This is due to a threading problem with Quicktime; I am investigating a workaround. * Once the value of n is greater than Java's maximum Long Integer value (which is nearly 10,000 trillion), playback will continue in "broken record" style, repeating the last chunk played until playback is manually stopped. * There is a small click when you change the "start from" time during playback. * LICENSE AGREEMENT ---------------- This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. BUG REPORTING ------------ Your feedback is very important! Please send comments, feedback, bug reports, or success reports to metamix@jasonfreeman.net. To report a bug, please send me the following: * A detailed description of what you were doing when the problem occurred. It is best if you can describe a set of steps to follow which can reproduce the problem. * Your operating system, processor speed, and amount of RAM. * The version of Quicktime you are using. You can find this in the Quicktime control panel. * The version of MetaMix you are using. RELEASE NOTES: ------------- 1.1.2 * Changed license to the GPL; first public release of source code. * Updated program URL in about box and this README. 1.1.1 * Fixed a bug which could cause the program to freeze when the "Joy Ride" sequence was used. 1.1 * Updated for compatibility with JRE 1.4.1, Quicktime 6.4, and Mac OS X 10.3. * Fixed progress bar threading issue with new version of Quicktime for Java on Mac OS X. * Improved help navigation. * Simplified Windows installation process. * Random mode now works properly. * Fixed bug which could cause sudden changes in volume or problems responding to changed volume slider. 1.0b5 * Default volume is louder, max volume is higher. * Changed label of "chunk length" to more accurate "trigger new chunk every..." * Vastly improved help. * Added "skip back" button. * f(n) = x indicator added to display. * Fixed file import bug in Mac OS X. * New icons for playback controls. * Keybaord shortcuts for playback controls. 1.0b4 * Added "skip ahead" button to skip ahead in sequence to next "structural" point.
